As you eagerly unwrap the layers of anticipation, prepare to embark on a journey steeped in the timeless elegance of handwritten communication. It's a world that seems to have been almost forgotten. If you are in the generations before email, texting, and cellphones this will feel nostalgic. It certainly does for me. I am a part of those generations. Let's welcome back the days when pen meets paper, of sitting and crafting a handwritten letter, and even the joys you felt receiving a letter in the mailbox.
There seem to be so many people today who are craving a slow-living lifestyle or looking to add some new hobbies that embrace living in the moment and bring meaning to their everyday lives. This month our box does just that.
This box is special because it combines two lost art forms which are calligraphy and handwritten letters. The bonus is making wax seals to put that touch of elegance on your letters.
Lap Desk
Sometimes when you want to relax and write a letter or practice some calligraphy, you need a comfy space to do it. This small lap desk is just the answer. Cozy up on the couch under a blanket or even snuggle up in bed before sleep to write your thoughts or just practice forming some letters.
Decorative Writing Paper
Sometimes a letter calls for something more than a piece of lined notebook paper. When that opportunity calls, you want beautiful paper and envelopes to craft your letter. Don't skimp on the details because the little touches are what makes something so special. We are so used to instant gratification and instant results in the form of a text or email that we have become lazy with those special touches. Since we are going to do this, let's do it right!
Wax Seal Kit
This is the best part! I had never made wax seals before so it was new for me. This little gem includes colored wax beads, a tea light candle, a wax bead warming spoon, and a stamp. It's pretty simple. You add some wax beads to your spoon and melt over the candle. Once your wax has melted, pour and stamp before it hardens.
You can also make your seals ahead of time if you prefer. You can simply pour your wax on wax paper and stamp it. Once they harden store them until you want to use them. They can be adhered to with a bit of glue.
Calligraphy Practice Sheets and Templates
When you need to focus on something relaxing to unwind, get out your templates and tracing sheets. This is such a beautiful script! Make some copies of the tracing papers if you feel like you need a lot of practice, or try it freehand using the templates as a guide.
Calligraphy Pen
You can't practice calligraphy without the right pen. This particular pen is good for beginners. It is a double head that provides a broad line and a fine line. What makes a calligraphy pen different from a normal pen, is that it allows you the ability to do various line widths in the same stroke. These types of pens have a flexible tip for that reason.
They do take some getting used to if you have never used this pen before but with practice, you will master this hobby. It's for this reason we suggest making copies of your tracing sheets until you get the hang of using the pen.
I hope this box takes you back to a simpler time and makes you feel nostalgic. It's so important that we make the most of our lives while we are here, and enjoy them instead of just going through the motions and just existing. There is so much joy out there to be discovered that you probably have forgotten about. We want to bring that to you every month. More joy, a new hobby, spending more time with friends and family, and doing more of what matters. If you are not on our email list or following us on social media what are you waiting for?
