For most of us, September signals the ending of summer and the beginning of the Fall season. Daylight is getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler. I just took my last vacation of the year to the beach to relax and unwind. This time of year some self-care is the perfect transition for the changing seasons, and what could be better than an at-home facial you can do anytime you need a pick me up or just some time to relax. This month we sent our subscribers the Fabulous Facials box to do just that. There are all types of facials you can try with this box, and you can use a few or all the items together to get the full experience.
I can't tell you the last time I did an at-home facial, and that was part of the inspiration for this box. I wanted to have a self-care box this year because I don't think we take enough time to do that for ourselves frankly. In the past years, we have done a spa day box centered around a nice bath, and a pedicure box. Let's take a look at this month's box contents.
Facial Steam
Facial steams are so relaxing! The gentle heat and the fragrance are enough to lull you to a state of restful bliss. We love to buy from small businesses when we can and even more exciting for us are products that are all natural with no harmful ingredients. This steam bag contains all organic ingredients such as rose petals, lavender, and chammomile. Facial steams are easy to do. Simply bring some water to a simmer, and add to a large bowl. Add your steam bag and stir gently. Use a towel to make a tent over your head and steam for about 5-7 minutes. You can also use this as a bath tea if you choose to as well.
Face Mask
The next step in your facial is an all-natural mask. The packaging is great with the wax seal and linen drawstring bag, but the ingredients are the main draw for me. Made only with bentonite clay, sea salt, brown rice, hibiscus, rose, bee pollen, and essential oils, your skin will feel so good afterwards.
All you need to do is combine equal parts mask and water, apply to the face and neck, let dry for about 15 minutes, and rinse with water.
Hydrosol Spray
Hydrosol sprays are water-based products made by distilling plants, herbs, or flowers by water or steam. The distilling process will produce two products, essential oils, and hydrosol which are the water-soluble parts of the plant.
Hydrosols are excellent for toning and hydrating the skin. Simply spray on freshly washed skin for hydration. This particular variety of hydrosol is holy basil. You can also use this product in a variety of other ways such as linen or room spray, or use on your dryer balls.
Facial Accessories
The last few items in the box are accessories we feel make the experience better. We included two facial towels for rinsing or cleansing your face, a terrycloth headband to keep your hair out of the way, and lastly a facial spa mask.
If you are doing the facial in order according to the box, this item will be used last. Get the mask cold to shrink and tighten your pores for the perfect finishing touch.
This mask can be used either hot or cold and the bands attach behind your ears to keep it in place. Use it hot when you are not doing a facial steam to open your pores.
